What is an Alderman?

Aldermen are legislative branch of the city government, as well as its policy-making body. 

Aldermen serve a four year term to represent the residents of a district or area of the city known as a ward.

City councilman ensure execution and completion of city's goals, major projects and infrastructure improvements ranging from community growth to land use to finances and strategic planning.

Nominated by petition of the voters of each ward, elections are held on the last Tuesday in February in the year preceding the presidential election. If no candidate receives a majority of the votes cast in that election, a run-off election between the two highest candidates is held on the first Tuesday in April of the same year.
