Biography
Colby Chapman is a lifelong resident of the Harvey community. She spent her childhood growing up on Lexington Avenue. One could always catch her in the neighborhood playing basketball at Lexington Park and the YMCA. Upon graduating from Thornridge High School District 205, she transitioned into her post secondary plan at Southern Illinois University. Colby earned her Bachelor of Arts in Criminology and Forensic Science in 2009 and Master of Science in Education in Program Leadership with honors in 2011. She is a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated.
Colby was convinced early on that working within education was not enough to strengthen communities and applied to Loyola University Business Law Clinic. Colby was selected, to start her own 501c(3) organization, Financial Literacy Leaders of America. Through her non profit organization, she created a program called PennyUp, to educate, inspire, equip, and financially aide youth with financial resources. Since creation, PennyUp has partnered with a variety of organizations, to support and uplift communities across the Southland.
Colby has received a various merit awards and interviewed by multiple media platforms, to shed light on her altruistic excellence in communities. She is determined to cure the mayhem that plagues the residents of the 2nd ward and improve the quality of life overall in Harvey, Illinois. Chapman's platform of youth, families, and senior services, health equity, public safety, economic development, will create change in Harvey!
Candidate Colby Chapman is a 21st century visionary and strategic leader, who has the ability to amass support from the community, civic, and business leaders to make change and unite Harvey. Colby is a change agent, ready to make impact in the 2nd Ward and entire community of Harvey. It will truly be my greatest honor and satisfaction to contribute to my home ward’s unity, growth, and recognition!
